Claire is already three! Amazing! The past three years have been the happiest and most fun three years of my life! And all because of a curly, blonde-headed little girl who calls me “Mommy!”
Claire has three nicknames. Mommy calls her “Sweets.” Daddy calls her “Claire Bear.” And we both call her “Princess.” And all three perfectly describe my precious girl!
Claire is now 38” tall (3’ 2”), putting her in the 65th percentile for height. She weighs 31 lb 14.4 oz – 62nd percentile. So she’s about average for height and weight for her age, and is perfectly proportional. According to the pediatrician, her estimated adult height will be 5’ 8”.
She also has some mad skills. Claire now writes her own name. The first time she wrote her name was on my Mother’s Day card.
Claire loves to color. She loves crayons, colored pencils, markers, paint. She loves everything that makes her world her own. And I love her artwork!
She dances. She twirls and spins and jumps and wiggles. She’s adorable!
She sings. Her current favorites are “Annie songs.” (The songs from the movie Annie.) She loves to sing “Happy Birthday,” “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,” the alphabet, Veggie Tales songs, “I’ve Got the Joy Joy Joy Joy Down in My Heart,” etc. I LOVE the sound of her sweet little voice singing her favorite songs at the top of her lungs any time anywhere no matter her audience.
She loves to be funny. Claire loves to entertain and will do anything for a laugh. She will frequently try new things and then ask, “Is that funny?” If the response is yes, she’ll do it 50 or more times. If the response is no, she’ll change it up a bit and try again. She’s currently trying to perfect “knock-knock” jokes. They’re a work in progress, but the fact that she messes them up is much funnier than the jokes themselves.
She’s smart. Claire has started memorizing Bible verses. Currently she has learned Psalm 27:1, Deuteronomy 6:18 and Zephaniah 3:17. She loves to read and is learning to read several of her books on her own. She loves to count. She knows colors, shapes, personal pronouns, etc. It’s amazing how many things she has learned and how quickly she’s learning new things.
She has started taking a gymnastics class. She’s learned to walk on a balance beam, do forward and backward flips, handstands and backbends and has learned the basics of a cartwheel.
Claire is a great swimmer. She can do front and back glides, reach-and-pulls, controlled submersions, floats and rolls. In other words, she can swim!
Claire loves being a cheerleader. Recently Analise got pom poms, and Claire wanted some too. She took some of her birthday money and bought some pink pom poms. In this video she is cheering on the Trojans – the mascot of Analise’s school.
Claire is very friendly. One of the few McComber traits I see in her is that she has never met a stranger. She genuinely loves people. She greets everyone and wants to be friends.
Claire is everyone’s favorite at church. She has a lot of friends, and all of her teachers adore her. She is very well-behaved and polite. Each week she hugs her teachers and thanks them for teaching her. There are few things that make me more proud than hearing week after week how sweet she is and how she makes friends with the new kids and how obedient and kind she is. She is definitely a favorite.
Claire became a big sister this year and wears the title with pride. She LOVES Cale. She loves to play with him and help take care of him. She shares with him and is very protective of him. She is an amazingly wonderful sister. Cale is a very lucky little guy to have Claire as his sister!
Claire is so affectionate. She loves to hug and snuggle. She is very kind and polite and has great manners. She is compassionate and loving. She’s always the first to run over to someone who is crying to see if they are ok whether she knows them or not. What a sweetie!
Claire is nothing short of amazing and wonderful. I am so very blessed to her mommy!
[Claire is changing so much and doing so many new things that it is my intent to actively post on her blog this year. Check back periodically to see what’s new with our very wonderfully sweet girl!]
