Baby McNorton?!

When I was working full-time, I had a co-worker who used to call me Mrs. McNorton all of the time. This stemmed from the fact that he knew me prior to my marrying Steve and would start to address me as Miss McComber and then remember that I was married to Mr. Norton. The name Mrs. McNorton stuck.

When this same friend found out that I was having a baby, he was so excited that I was having a "Baby McNorton." :) I think this is hilarious. But then today, I read this article: http://www.parents.com/pregnancy/baby-names/101/deciding-baby-last-name/?esrc=nwdk&sssdmh=dm17.366423 People are actually coming up with alternative last names for their children. Hmm...

So what do you say, Babe? Claire Elise McNorton? :)

Let's take a blog poll - just for fun! What should Claire's last name be?

A Few of My Favorite Things - Part 2

Claire has been receiving a lot of gifts from family and friends. I LOVE them all. Thank you to everyone! Here are a few of the wonderful gifts she has received:

An NYC pacifier from Aunt Jill, Uncle Ryan and cousins Katie, Sarah and Keegan

Gymboree onsies from Claire's Grandma Robin - too cute!

Beautiful outfit from Claire's Aunt Shannon

Cute and soft pink outfit from Claire's Granny (Steve's grandma)

A beautiful party dress from one of the flight attendants that Steve works with

Adorable polka dot outfit from Claire's daddy - He just couldn't resist!

I love that we're having a girl! These outfits are just too cute and so much fun! I can't wait to start dressing her up in them! And her accessories (especially her NYC pacifier) are the perfect additions to these outfits. She is one spoiled little girl!

Ta Da!

Steve has been very concerned that my idea for this shelf might not work. After much deliberation and consultation with neighbors and friends, he devised a plan.
How to Hang an 80 lb. Bookshelf on the Wall
Measure twice; drill once.

Test the strength of the brackets.

Push and pull on the shelf to ensure that it will not tip forward.

One more weight test.

Let the decorating begin.

And voila - a perfectly hung shelf that can hold at least 200 lbs.

Next step for the nursery - a crib.

100 Days and Counting!

Only 100 days until my due date! How exciting!

For those who are constantly asking how I feel and what the doctor has to say, here's the latest:

I had a dental appointment on Monday. Everything looks great. My gums are healthy - no bleeding. And I still have never had a cavity. My teeth are strong and healthy.

I had a baby doctor appointment this morning. She went over the results of my last ultrasound. Everything looks good. We listened to Claire's heartbeat, which is VERY strong. Even the doctor laughed about that. She measured my tummy and said that Claire is just the right size. Everything looks good and healthy, and Claire is right on track.

I'm feeling great. I still find it very odd to have someone doing summersaults in my belly and kicking me from the inside, but it's also very cool. After some specific instructions from her Mommy and Daddy, Claire has started sleeping through the night again. Thank God! I have spent the last two nights sleeping in my own bed all night long. (For those of you who hadn't heard, she had started waking up around 4:00 a.m. every morning - and waking up Mommy - for about a week. We're so glad that she seems to be over that.)

All is well. Life is good. 100 days and counting!

Sneak Peek

For those of you who are waiting on pins on needles to see this fabulous nursery furniture, here's a sneak peek:

When all is said and done, the bookcase will be hanging horizontally above the chest of drawers. I'm not sure when this will actually get done but hopefully this week.

The crib will have to be ordered, so it will be a while before pictures of it will be up. I'll post pictures as we get things together.
